So you haven’t heard from us for a while? That’s because we were busy producing one of the best movies of 2013 – at least we are all thoroughly convinced of that after reviewing the final edit of “La Vie Nous Appartient”!
Producing an independent feature film with a first-time director and a young production company is almost impossible anywhere in the world. Motivation and talent just aren’t enough, even if the story allows for a relatively minimal budget. In our case, we picked a story that requires only two actors, few locations, and no crazy action sequences. But we were also convinced that “La Vie Nous Appartient” deserves a sensitive, professional, visually appealing approach, which in turn tends to translate into more money being spent. Against all odds, we managed to get the financing required to complete the movie, although it did also include a maybe-not-so-healthy dose of self-sacrifice…
We are now well into post-production, and can confidently say that the immense effort of cast and crew was all well worth it! The final video edit is complete, and this “picture lock” allows the sound designer, composers, color grader and others to finish their part of the process. A lot can already be said about the movie at this stage of production: the imagery, the character development, the storyline, the music – all working beautifully! At no point in the edit can you tell that we had embarked on this crazy endeavor to film an entire 90-minute feature within 12 days. But we actually managed to do so – on schedule and without sacrifice in quality.
We look forward to continue sharing our experience with you in the coming weeks and beyond!
