As we reported earlier, “La Vie Nous Appartient” competed last weekend at the Social World Film Festival in Vico Equense, Italy. Even though the festival is only in its fifth edition, it managed to attract many visitors, including famous Italian actors and filmmakers. It also screened an amazing selection of films and documentaries, providing for a very tough competition.
For this reason, we are very proud to have received a Special Mention by the main Quality Jury! The reasoning for our Special Mention reads as follows (translated from Italian*):
“Special Mention to La Vie Nous Appartient by Alex K. Lee, thanks to young and very effective performers, with a screenplay devoid of rhetoric, in simple and measured language, the film reaches the heart of the viewer, representing so strongly the discomforts of youths.”*
The main prize of the Quality- and the Critics Jury went to the great Italian movie “Anime Nere”, by Francesco Munzi, which was a favorite at the Venice Film Festival and won all major Donatello Awards this year. The main prize of the Young Jury went to Cannes Jury Prize winner “Mommy” by the very talented young French-Canadian director Xavier Dolan. Both extraordinarily stunning movies – congratulations!
We’re incredibly humbled and want to once again thank everyone involved in the making of the film, as well as festival director Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo and his great team for their support and hospitality. A special shout out also goes to the many amazing young people at the festival who intrigued our director with their interesting questions and eagerness to learn as much as possible about the film-making process.
